Reviews Lake Conservation Efforts On NLCO’s Request, Committee Visits Gilsar-Khushalsar and Nigeen Lakes
Srinagar, Oct 9 (KNS): The Committee on Petitions of the Rajya Sabha, during its study visit to Srinagar aimed at exploring measures to conserve and revitalise the dying rivers across the country, today held detailed discussions with representatives from NLCO, Canara Bank, J&K Bank, Chenab Valley Power Project Ltd., Power Trading Corporation, National Seeds Corporation, and various government departments including the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Power, and Ministry of Jal Shakti, along with JKPCB, JKPDC, JK SFC, JK R&B, Water Resources Regulatory Authority, LCMA, NDF, and other NGOs.
The meeting was held at Taj Vivanta, Srinagar, where the NLCO team shared its experience and insights on lake conservation. Following the formal meeting, and on NLCO’s request, the Committee undertook a field visit to the Gilsar–Khushalsar Lakes, followed by a tour of Nigeen Lake to assess the ongoing conservation initiatives on the ground.
Chairman NLCO Manzoor Wangnoo expressed sincere gratitude to the Committee for their visit to Srinagar and their interest in supporting efforts to restore and protect the region’s vital water bodies. (KNS)
