Discusses Muharram, Navratra festivals, Law & Order arrangements

Srinagar, Sep 26 (KNS): Director General of Police (DGP), . K. Rajendra Kumar has asked for fool proof security arrangements for regulation of Muharram congregations and celebrations of Navratras at all the places, scheduled from 3rd October 2016. He has also stressed for coordination among all ranks of JKP and other security agencies to ensure peaceful congregations and festivals across the State.
Rajendra was interacting with all range DIsGP and District Superintendents of Police of Jammu and Kashmir Zones through video conference from Police Headquarters (PHQ) here today. The conference was held to take stock of the arrangements made for the Muharram congregation, Ashoora processions, Mahanavani and Dussehra festivals.
During the video conference, the officers briefed the DGP about the arrangements made on the auspicious occasions in their respective jurisdictions. The DGP was apprised that all preparations have been made with regard to deployment of personnel, coordination among the forces and communication net-work to ensure peaceful Muharrram congregations, Ashoora processions, Mahanavami and Dussehra festivals in the State. He directed the officers to hold joint meetings of respectable of the areas to seek peoples cooperation for maintaining law and order during these auspicious occasions.
While seeking reports about the arrangements from the concerned range DIsGP and District Superintendents of Police, DGP asked the officers to make elaborate arrangements for Muharram Majlisis at all the places especially the places where Ashoora processions are being held from 7th to 10th Muharram. He instructed them to keep vigil on the activities of anti-social elements in their areas so that no untoward incident took place.
Expressing his satisfaction over the arrangements made for peaceful Muharram congregations and Navratra festivals, the DGP stressed that while making police bandobust and other security arrangements, people should not be put to any inconvenience while taking part in these religious functions. He directed the senior functionaries to monitor the arrangements personally and be available at their headquarters so that directions are passed on to the subordinates working in the field. He asked the officers to make traffic arrangements in their respective areas so that the people could attend the congregations and festivals without facing any inconvenience.
During the conference, . Rajendra discussed the security scenario and reviewed the law & order situation of all the districts of the State. He asked the officers to coordinate with other security agencies and help in minimizing the problems of common masses caused due to the unrest.
During the conference, Spl. DG, Coordination/Law Ôrder, Dr. S. P. Vaid also addressed and asked for ensuring law & Order efficiently. He said that proper utilization of sources should be ensured to get desired results.
Among others, the video conference was attended by ADGP (Armed), L Mohanti, IsGP, HK Lohia, SJM Gillani, MS Salaria, MA Khan and Jagjit Kumar, DIsGP, BA Ittoo and GH Bhat, SSP Sgr: Amit Kumar, AIsGP, Dr. Hasseb Mughal, Sheikh Junaid, Tahir Sajad, Kuldeep Singh and BA Shah, SP Traffic, Maqsood-ul-Zaman and other police officers.
