Srinagar, Jun 12 (KNS): A programme on the theme "Ageing with Dignity, Prevention of Elder abuse and isolation" was conducted at Govt.Model Higher Secondary School D H Pora Kulgam in collaboration with Legal Services Department Kulgam was conducted today on 12 June 2019.

The programme was inaugurated by A G Bhat Principal HSS D K Marg ,who was Chief guest on the occasion.

A.G.Bhat threw light on this grave social issue wherein elders face isolation and abuse and advised the students to pledge and undertake no to indulge in this meance. Various students of the school participated in the programme and highlighted the importance of respecting our elders and aged persons.

From Staff Shirazul Hassan Lecturer English, Showkat Ahmad Wani Lecturer Political Science also shared their views regarding this grave social issue and suggested ways and means how isolation and elder abuse will get minimised from society.

Mohd Yousuf Teacher of the institution presented vote of thanks and Showkat Ahmad Wani acted as Dias incharge/ anchor of the programme.

On behalf of Legal services Department, Sr.Advocate Irshad Ahmad Bhat and advocate Arshid Ahmad Baba Educated the students about legal provisiins for elder abuse and isolation and delivered how inspite of adequate legal provisions, it is important that our younger generation get awakened and enlightened so that they may not resort to this unlawful practice and our elders live a dignified life and they don't need to invoke legal provisions. Upon the judgement of jury, Mehkey Hafeez class 12th IST position, Zeenat un Nisa class 12th 2nd position, Nasir Yousuf class 9th 3rd position were awarded with Prizes.
