Process to remove terror links from governance will continue: LG Sinha

Srinagar, Oct 31(KNS): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed historic progress and is realising the vision of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee through inclusive development and social justice.

Speaking at the UT Foundation Day function, Sinha said the formation of Jammu and Kashmir as a Union Territory on October 31, 2019, marked the beginning of an “aspirational J&K,” where the people’s dream of peace and progress began to take shape. “Historic milestones were achieved in infrastructure and other sectors. All forms of discrimination were removed, and social justice and equality were established,” he said.

Earlier, the Lieutenant Governor administered the Unity Pledge and flagged off the ‘Run for Unity’ to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, known as the unifier of India.

Calling for collective effort toward inclusive development, Sinha said, “We must follow the vision and ideals of Sardar Patel and work as a unified force for the shared goal of Aatm-Nirbhar J&K and Viksit Bharat. We have made history in terms of all-round development and must continue this journey as an unbreakable entity.”

The Lieutenant Governor said that the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister Amit Shah have made it clear that J&K will get statehood at an appropriate time, following the completion of the delimitation process and Assembly elections.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

On the issue of termination of government employees found involved in terror-related activities, Sinha said the process will continue until the “terror ecosystem” is completely removed from governance.
He urged people to remain united against elements attempting to disrupt peace and development. “Efforts are being made to slow down the progress. People must stay united to ensure that the development process continues without interruption,” he said.

Sinha also appealed to public representatives and officials to discharge their duties responsibly to maintain peace and harmony. “Since 2019, the aspirations of J&K are aligned with those of the country. We must work with dedication to turn our unity into widespread prosperity, guided by the vision of Peace, Progress, Prosperity, and People First,” he said.

The Lieutenant Governor also inaugurated a photo exhibition titled An Era of Transformative Governance in Jammu and Kashmir and attended a screening of the documentary Viksit Jammu Kashmir.(KNS).
