Policeman killed in Pulwama operation awarded Kirti Chakra

Srinagar, Aug 15 (KNS) A Jammu and Kashmir policeman, head constable Abdul Rashid Kalas, who died in an encounter in Pulwama has awarded(posthumously) with Kirti Chakra the second highest peacetime gallantry decoration on the occasion of Independence Day.
According to Kashmir News Service (KNS) on the 74th Independence day Abdul Rasheed Kalas awarded the second highest peacetime gallantry medal the Kirti Chakra posthumously, Abdul Rasheed Kalas a resident of Gabra village of Karnah north Kashmir's Kupwara district was a part of anti militant operation in pinglina area of south Kashmir's Pulwama district on18 feb last year and got killed by militant.
The 84 awards and decorations to the armed security personnel and member of paramilitary forces have awarded by president of India among abdul Rasheed Kalas was lone awarded posthumously with kirti chakra the second highest peacetime gallantry decoration.
Kalas has served in the police department for almost 11 years Kalas leaves behind young widow and two minor sibling.(KNS)
