Srinagar, Oct 25 (KNS): The Democratic Freedom Party activists on Sunday held protests at Mattan Chowk in south Kashmir against the nocturnal raids, arrests and harassment of people particularly in Mattan, Kadipora and Acchabal areas of Islamabad.
In a statement issued to KNS, DFP spokesman said the protestors who were led by Engineer Farooq Ahmad Khan chanted pro-freedom slogans and denounced the arrest of innocent students and pro-Hurriyat people. Manzoor Ahmad Ghazi and Shabir Ahmad Baba were among the protestors. Terming the arrests as frustration of police, the protestors demanded immediate release of those arrested and warned authorities of serious public protests if the arrests are not stopped forthwith.
Meanwhile, the Democratic Freedom Party while supporting the shutdown call given by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference has appealed the people to observe the complete shutdown on 27th October.
A party spokesperson said that 27 th October is that day when Indian forces under a well planned conspiracy landed its foot on Jammu and Kashmir. Since then, the Kashmiri nation observes this day as a black day every year and will continue to do so till they don't get their birth right of self-determination," the spokesperson said. (KNS)
