Jammu, January 16:- Intervening in the discussion in J&K Legislative Assembly today regarding the question of fixation of rates for the land acquired for construction of Ring /Circular Roads at Jammu and Srinagar, M.Y.Tarigami, CPI(M) MLA urged upon the government to pay adequate compensation per kanal to the land owners affected due to this acquisition.
Thousands of kanals of productive land of the farmers in these areas is under acquisition and the farmers have been agitating for payment of adequate compensation and rehabilitation plan.
Since farming community is under heavy distress everywhere, the government must pay attention to their genuine grievances and try to address them on priority. (KNS)
