Patwari Caught Taking Bribe in Samba, ACB Recovers ₹35 Lakh Cash

Srinagar, Nov 4 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau has made a major breakthrough by arresting a Patwari from Samba while accepting a bribe and recovering over ?35 lakh in cash.

According to a statement issued, reads that the case was registered under FIR No. 19/2025 at Police Station ACB Jammu against Sunil Kumar, Patwari of Patwar Halqa Dadui, Tehsil and District Samba, under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

According to the ACB, the accused had demanded ?1 lakh from the complainant for preparing a report sought by the Tehsildar Samba regarding correction of Girdawari. After negotiation, the bribe amount was settled at ?80,000. The complainant, unwilling to pay, approached the ACB, leading to a verification that confirmed the demand.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Following registration of the case, a trap team was constituted. The team caught the Patwari red-handed while demanding and accepting ?20,000 as part payment of the agreed bribe in the presence of independent witnesses. He was arrested on the spot, and the tainted money was recovered.

During subsequent searches of his vehicle, the ACB recovered more than ?35 lakh in cash. His residential premises were also searched in the presence of Magistrates.

The ACB said further investigation is underway to determine the source of the recovered money and identify possible links to other cases of corruption.(KNS)
