Srinagar, Apr 05 (KNS): Amid public outrage against the ban on movement of traffic on Srinagar-Jammu national highway for two days in a week, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan Friday clarified that patients, students, tourists and others in emergency will be allowed to move after scrutiny.

As per Kashmir News Service (KNS) correspondent, addressing a hurriedly called press conference here he said for spontaneous emergencies, phone numbers will be shared at district level so that people can talk to nodal officers immediately and travel on the highway. Similarly, he said, tourist vehicles will be allowed to move after due scrutiny while people, who have to travel to airport, their tickets will be checked and allowed to move.

The Div Com, who was flanked by IGP Kashmir SP Pani, said that concerned Deputy Commissioners have been asked to collect the details of schools, hospitals and nursing homes which fall on national highway. “The students, teachers, doctors and other staff will be provided the passes and their vehicles will be allowed to move,” Khan said.

He said on Sundays schools and offices are already closed and only national highway will remain closed.

"The order will be in place till 31st May 2019," he added. (KNS)
