PSAJK bars schools from charging Transport fee for August-September 2019

Srinagar, Mar 04 (KNS): Private Schools’ Association of Jammu and Kashmir (PSAJK) has barred the private schools from charging any transport fee for the month of August and September 2019.
The Association in a meeting said that as the matter regarding the collection of transport fee is sub-judice so no school should collect the fee from the students on its roll. “There has been extensive discussion on the issue and government orders were also discussed. However the court has not yet decided on the matter so schools have been asked not to collect the said fee,” said G N Var President PSAJK while chairing the meeting of executive council of the Association. Representatives of various school members and parents also participated in the meeting.
A statement issued to KSN reads, the Association also discussed various grievances of parents and other assorted issues. The Association has also directed the schools to consider cases of deserving students whose families have suffered in the situation. “We know there are many families who suffered immensely due to the situation and their economic condition was impacted. All schools have been asked to scrutinize each and every such case and other poor students, and help them accordingly in a judicious manner,” said Var. “Entire society suffered due to the situation and we at schools are not alien to it. We will help every deserving student in all possible ways,” he said.
The Association however called on the government employees and other sectors which were not affected to clear all of their dues. “There are people from various sectors like government employees or the chemists and druggists, who were not impacted due to the turmoil. Their income was in no way affected. So such parents should clear all of their dues forthwith. The government employees even get allowance for their children. They should instead help other poor students too, as their condition has improved monetarily,” Var added .
The Association has also asked the schools to increase the ambit of various activities both curricular and extra curricular to help students tide over any stress. “We have witnessed behavioural changes in many students and it is natural as they have been confined to their homes for almost seven months. So we are devising various activities to lower their stress level and prevent occurrence of any signs of trauma or PTSD. Improving mental health of every student is our priority,” said Var. the statement said (KNS).
