New Delhi, June 5(KNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Jammu and Kashmir tomorrow to inaugurate a series of landmark infrastructure and development projects aimed at boosting regional connectivity and economic growth.
Inauguration of Iconic Rail Bridges
As part of his visit, the Prime Minister will inaugurate two major rail bridges — the Chenab Bridge and the Anji Bridge — symbolizing engineering excellence in challenging terrains.
The Chenab Bridge, the world’s highest railway arch bridge, stands at 359 meters above the Chenab River. Spanning 1,315 meters, the steel arch structure has been built to withstand seismic activity and high winds. The bridge is a critical link in the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) and will significantly reduce travel time between Katra and Srinagar to around three hours.
The Anji Bridge, India’s first cable-stayed railway bridge, is another engineering milestone built to serve in a geographically complex region.
Boost to Rail and Road Infrastructure
The Prime Minister will also dedicate the USBRL project to the nation. This 272-km-long rail line, built at a cost of approximately ?43,780 crore, includes 36 tunnels (covering 119 km) and 943 bridges. It establishes year-round rail connectivity between the Kashmir Valley and the rest of India, greatly enhancing travel and trade opportunities.
In addition, PM Modi will flag off two Vande Bharat Express trains between Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and Srinagar.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThese high-speed trains will offer a faster and more comfortable travel option for locals, tourists, and pilgrims.
Road Projects for Better Border Connectivity

Foundation stone for Rafiabad–Kupwara road widening on NH-701
Construction of Shopian bypass on NH-444
Inauguration of flyovers at Sangrama Junction (NH-1) and Bemina Junction (NH-44) in Srinagar
Together valued at over ?1,952 crore, these projects aim to reduce traffic congestion and improve connectivity in key regions.
Healthcare Boost for Reasi District
PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone for the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence in Katra. This ?350 crore facility will be the first medical college in Reasi district and is expected to significantly strengthen healthcare services in the region.
The Prime Minister’s visit underscores the government’s continued focus on infrastructure-led development in Jammu and Kashmir, with projects designed to drive economic growth, improve mobility, and enhance the quality of life for residents.
