Srinagar, Dec 24 (KNS): The casual labourers of Public Health Engineering (PHE) department on Monday staged a protest against the department for failing to release their wages from past several months.
Dozens of PHE casual labourers under the banner of Kashmir PHE Casual Labourers Union assembled at Srinagar’ press colony and raised slogans in favour of their demands.
The casual labourers demanded immediate release of pending wages, which according to them are pending from past several months.
The protesting casual labourers said that the authorities have failed to release their wages on time, thus leaving the casual labourers and their families to suffer.
“We were forced yet again to hit the streets to press for our wages. Despite working tirelessly in the harsh winters, the authorities have failed to come up to the expectations of the PHE casual labourers,” they said.
They urged the authorities to look into the matter at an earliest and release their pending wages. “We appeal the higher ups to release our wages soon,” they demanded. (KNS)
