Srinagar, Dec 5 (KNS): Peoples Democratic Party leader and MLA Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra on Friday appealed to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to immediately clear the administration’s proposal seeking an increase in the upper age limit for candidates appearing in the Jammu and Kashmir Combined Competitive Examination (JKCCE).
According to KNS, Parra said a timely approval, coming just two days before the exam scheduled on December 7 would demonstrate fairness and empathy towards thousands of young aspirants who, he said, have already suffered repeated disruptions in their academic and career timelines.
In a letter addressed to the LG, Parra said that the administration has already forwarded a formal proposal seeking age relaxation for those candidates who “lost crucial years of preparation due to circumstances beyond their control.” He noted that several ministers have publicly stated that the proposal has completed all procedural requirements and is now awaiting only the LG’s approval.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
However, with no final communication from Raj Bhavan so far, Parra said the prolonged silence has created “anxiety and deep concern” among aspirants who remain uncertain about their eligibility just before the exam.
“A continued delay or a denial of this widely supported demand risks worsening the sense of exclusion among our youth at a time when rebuilding trust in institutions is essential,” he wrote, adding that an early and affirmative decision would carry symbolic value far beyond resolving a procedural matter.
Parra said that granting the relaxation before the examination would reassure candidates that the administration recognises their challenges and stands with them at a critical moment.
He urged the LG to grant swift approval so that aspirants can sit for the exam “with confidence, not confusion.”(KNS)
