Demands immediate restoration of internet services

Srinagar, Nov 27 (KNS): Expressing concern over loss of jobs of thousands of youngsters in IT and e-commerce sectors due to continuous internet blockade in Jammu and Kashmir, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Tuesday demanded immediate restoration of all communication and internet services.

In a statement issued to KNS, party additional spokesperson Tahir Syeed said that the blockade has affected thousands of entrepreneurs and IT sector in general. He said number of start-ups and business units dependent on internet availability are at verge of closure and many had already closed the operations. He asked if the government is claiming to generate employment for the Jammu Kashmir youth, how come the internet blockade justify the claim by forcing existing businesses, units to face huge losses and damages.

Syeed said majority of young entrepreneurs have started their business establishments by seeking loan from the banks and since last three months they are facing the brunt of blockade which has virtually turned their units into losses.

He demanded immediate restoration of internet and other communication. He also demanded rehabilitation and compensation for the young entrepreneurs who suffered losses. He said world is debating that the communication through internet should be the fundamental right and India is at the forefront of this dialogue besides Prime Minister Narendera Modi is promoting idea of Digital India. He asks how come depriving people of Jammu Kashmir from this right is justifiable. (KNS)
