PC chief Sajad Lone calls for calm, urges restraint after Hazratbal emblem controversy

Srinagar, Sept 6 (KNS): People’s Conference Chairman Sajad Lone on Saturday urged restraint from both the public and political leaders following the controversy over the use of a government emblem at the Hazratbal shrine.

In a post on “X”, Lone described the incident as unfortunate and said that placing an emblem inside a revered religious site was inappropriate. “The sequence of events at the Hazratbal shrine is unfortunate. He appealed to the police to avoid registering a case in order to prevent further tensions. “It is imperative that we do not allow tempers to flare up. The police should desist from registering an FIR,” he added.

Lone also cautioned political leaders to be mindful of their statements. “And the political class may please use caution in their utterances. Any operational measures will eventually target non-leaders,” he said.(KNS)
