Mian Altaf suggests Govt to form a team of MLAs to visit the border areas

Jammu, Jan 23 (KNS): The opposition comprising National Conference and Congress on Tuesday staged a walkout over what they call government's "callous approach" in plight of border residents hit by recent shelling and the worsening security situation in Kashmir valley.
According to the KNS correspondent, as the proceedings started in the assembly the opposition members raised the issue and demanded a statement from Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti. As government did not respond to the opposition demand, the entire opposition walked out from the house in protest.
NC’s Mian Altaf suggested the government to form a team of MLAs who would visit the border areas and take stock of the situation.
“This government has failed,” yelled the opposition members. “There is no seriousness towards border people.”
Talking to reporters outside the assembly complex senior National Conference leader Ali Mohammad Sagar said "BJP MP Jugal Kishore claims central funding for construction of bunkers but Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti disputes her claim that not bunkers but peace is the solution to border crisis. Contradictions between the centre and state makes it imperative for the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to make a statement in the house and clarify her government's position. Chief Minister should also come up with explanations over attacks on police stations ahead of republic day celebrations'.
Talking to reporters outside the assembly complex senior Congress leader and MLA Bandipora Usman Majeed said 'people are dying on borders and situation in Kashmir is not improving. Chief Minister should let the house know about the measures her government is taking to mitigate the sufferings of the people'. (KNS)
