??????????????????, ?????? 21(KNS): A One Week Bootcamp on “Next-Generation Security Challenges in Distributed Wireless Ecosystems” was inaugurated today at Government Degree College (Autonomous), Baramulla, under the ISEA Project Phase–III, sponsored by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, in collaboration with NIELIT Srinagar.
The bootcamp is being organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Post-Graduate Department of Computer Sciences, GDC Baramulla, in collaboration with NIELIT Srinagar. The programme aims to enhance awareness and technical competence among students and faculty in emerging domains such as network security, cybersecurity threats, and security frameworks for IoT, CPS, and 5G ecosystems.
The inaugural programme commenced with opening remarks by the anchors, Mr. Naieem Qureshi and Ms. Nausheen Lone, students of Computer Science (Major).
This was followed by an introduction to the programme by Dr. Syed Mutahhar Aaqib, Coordinator IQAC, who highlighted the objectives, scope, and academic relevance of the bootcamp. He emphasized the growing importance of securing distributed wireless networks in the context of rapid digital transformation and evolving cyber threats.
Mr. Ajaz Ahmad Kumar, Scientist ‘D’, NIELIT Srinagar, and Principal Investigator of the ISEA Project, delivered the keynote address. He elaborated on the national perspective of cybersecurity preparedness and underscored the role of academic institutions in developing skilled human resources in the field of information security. He also briefed the audience about the objectives of the ISEA Project and its contribution to strengthening cybersecurity awareness across the country.
The Special Address was delivered by Prof. Tariq Chalkoo, Staff Secretary of the College, who stressed the need for interdisciplinary learning and capacity-building initiatives to address contemporary technological challenges.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe appreciated the efforts of IQAC for organizing such a timely and relevant programme.
The Presidential Address was delivered by the Worthy Principal, Prof. Mohammad Shafi Lone, who formally inaugurated the bootcamp. In his address, he highlighted the importance of upskilling students in emerging areas such as cybersecurity and wireless network security to enhance employability and research orientation. He also lauded the collaboration with NIELIT Srinagar and thanked the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology for supporting such initiatives under the ISEA Project. On the occasion, dignitaries from NIELIT Srinagar were felicitated with mementos.
The inaugural session was followed by Technical Sessions I and II, conducted by Mr. Aqeel Ajaz Malik, who delivered comprehensive lectures on network security fundamentals, cybersecurity threats, phishing attacks, malware, and data security challenges. The sessions were interactive and well received by the participants.
As many as 60 participants from Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, and Electronics have registered for the bootcamp. All selected participants were provided with workshop kits, learning materials, refreshments, and lunch to ensure effective engagement throughout the programme.
The inaugural programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Nisar Iqbal Wani, Head, Post-Graduate Department of Computer Sciences, who acknowledged the contributions of the resource persons, organizers, and participants in ensuring the successful commencement of the bootcamp.
The bootcamp will continue till 24th December, 2025, featuring expert lectures and hands-on sessions aimed at deepening understanding of next-generation security challenges in distributed wireless ecosystems.(KNS).
