One more fire incident in Karnah, three more shops gutted

Karnah, Dec 03 (KNS): Fire incidents since past one month in Sheikh Mohalla of Kandi Balla in Karnah village in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district leave three more shops completely gutted. The shops which have damaged in today’s fire incident that of Ab. Hameed Sheikh, Rayaz Ahmad Khan (tailor shop) and Khursheed Ahmad Sheikh.
According to local’s since past month fires started all of a sudden in which a residential house of Altaf Ahmad besides some cowsheds have been completely gutted and there have been sudden fires in rooftop of some houses too. In sudden fires at least four heaps of grass kept by the villagers in open also gutted.
People of the village have called clerics to perform rituals to ward off the ghosts which they believe are behind the sudden fires in the vicinity.
Locals said they invited several clerics for a special ceremonial ritual in the village.
“We have been told that there are numerous ghosts in the village who are behind these fires,” said a local.
“We have conducted an elaborate religious ritual in this regard,” he added. (KNS)
