On Mirwaiz’s request, Grand Mufti revokes shutdown call for Saturday

Srinagar, Mar 13 (KNS): Following the request made by Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, the Grand Mufti of Jammu and Kashmir, Nasir-ul-Islam on Wednesday revoked the shutdown call for Saturday.
According to a statement issued to KNS, the Mufti Azam said that after Mirwaiz in a tweet had requested to take back the shutdown call for 16th March (Saturday).
He said that the shutdown call for Saturday is hereby revoked.
Earlier, Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq had requested the Mutahida Ulema council to take back the shutdown call for 16th March (Saturday).
The shutdown call was given in response to summoning of Mirwaiz by National Investigation Agency (NIA) and ban on Jama’at-e-Islami here.
Mirwaiz in a tweet expressed gratitude to Mutahida Ulema council J&K, the traders fraternity and the civil society members for their concern and support to him.
However, he urged Mutahida Ulema council to take back the shutdown call for 16th March (Saturday) that was called to protest against summoning of Mirwaiz by National Investigation Agency (NIA) and ban on Jama’at-e-Islami.
“Express my deep gratitude to Mutahida Ulema council J&K the Traders fraternity and the civil society members for there concern and support ,I however request Mutahida Ulema council to take back the hartal call for 16th March in this regard,” Mirwaiz tweeted. (KNS)
