Katra, June 5 (KNS): Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed heartfelt joy and nostalgia as he boarded the Vande Bharat train from Katra, calling the launch a long-awaited moment for the people of the region.
Talking to media, Omar Abdullah said, “If I tell you that I have been waiting for this moment for a long time, it will still not be enough. This rail project began when I was in the 7th or 8th class. Now, even my children have started working after completing school and college. But better late than never.”

He also said that 'Whenever the highway gets blocked, the airlines start selling tickets of Rs 5,000 for Rs 20,000. Such issues will be solved from now on.”
The launch of the Vande Bharat train is being seen as a major infrastructural boost for Jammu and Kashmir, enhancing both passenger convenience and economic opportunities in the region, he added.
