No One Above the Law: Illegal Constructions Will Face Strict Action: CEO Gulmarg Tariq Naik

Gulmarg, July 12 (KNS): CEO Gulmarg Development Authority, Tariq Naik, has issued a strong warning to individuals involved in illegal constructions, stating that strict legal action will be taken against violators, including FIRs and demolitions if necessary.

Speaking to reporters during an enforcement review visit, Tariq Naik, who was accompanied by Tehsildar Tangmarg Syed Eyed Qadri, said, “A master plan is a crucial document for any area, and we had given people a chance to submit their documents accordingly. Unfortunately, some took unlawful advantage and went to court, even though the matter is subjudice. Despite that, some broke official seals and resumed construction. This will not be tolerated.”

According to KNS, he said the enforcement team remains on alert and will not allow any illegal activity unless the required permissions are granted by law. “We have again sealed the sites where violations were found. No construction can resume without fulfilling legal obligations,” he added.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Naik further stated that many areas like Qazipora, Drung, Mahin, Tangmarg, and Gulmarg fall under approved master plans. “We are also working to include other areas under the planning framework. No one should take the law into their own hands,” he said.

He said that law applies equally to all, and those violating it will face legal consequences. “Our message is clear — collect your valid documents, present them, and follow the due process. Only then will action be taken as per legal provisions,” he said.

The CEO confirmed that violations were found in both private and departmental structures, and even some defense-related works in Gulmarg are under review following complaints. “Despite clear timing restrictions, some elements are still breaking the law. We have shut down the ongoing illegal works and initiated legal procedures,” he said. (KNS)
