Row over charges of illegal allotments continues

Srinagar, Oct 20 (KNS): Finally buckling under mounting pressures from all quarters the Governor Satya Pal Malik handed over the charge of Chairman Waqf Board to one of his advisors Khursheed Ahmad Ganaie holding the charge of Hajj & Auqaf department. As already reported by Kashmir News Service (KNS) in its news bulletin on October 13 that Governor Satya Pal Malik is all set to handover the charge of Chairman Waqf Board to one of his Advisors holding the charge of Hajj & Auqaf department.
Meanwhile informed sources told KNS that Waqf Board chairman Khursheed Ahmad Ganaie is likely to call a meeting of the other members of the board to review the working of the board. Sources also said that the row over the allegations of illegal allotments and misappropriation of funds against previous Waqf Board at different Muslim shrines is continuing as the critics are hell-bent upon their demand for a probe into all illegal allotments and misappropriation of public funds.
Interestingly the Waqf Board constituted by the previous government was facing allegations of illegal allotments to some blue eyed people in violation of standing rules. The inquiry though demanded from people of all shades is yet to be initiated to dig out the roots of allegations. (KNS)
