New International Cricket Stadium, Academy to Come Up in Budgam: CM Omar Abdullah

Srinagar, Nov 08 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday announced that a new international cricket stadium and academy will be established in Budgam to promote sports and bring major cricket events, including IPL matches, to the Valley.

“A new cricket stadium is to be built in Kashmir so that international and IPL matches can be held here. I don’t think there is a better place than Budgam for this project,” Omar said while addressing a gathering. He added that the government will continue to take steps for the region’s development.

The Chief Minister also highlighted several welfare measures taken by his government.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe said free bus rides have been provided for women on government buses across routes from Budgam to Srinagar, Qazigund, Uri, and even Delhi.
Omar said the government has increased social welfare schemes for the first time in 15 years, including old-age, widow, and disability pensions, and financial assistance for poor women’s marriages after a gap of 16 years.

“We even removed the rule requiring an eighth-class qualification so that every eligible woman can receive assistance,” he said as per KNS, adding that his administration remains focused on delivering welfare and development for the people.(KNS)
