Nehru was more responsible for partition of India than Jinnah: Baig

Srinagar, Nov 28 (KNS): Senior Peoples Democratic Party leader and MP, Muzaffar Hussain Baig Saturday said that Jawaharlal Nehru was more responsible for partition of India that Ali Mohammad Jinnah.
“An average Hindu has this feeling that when Muslims could rule India, India was a good country for them. But when Muslims realised that they will be in a minority in India, they wanted a separate country,” Baig said during his lecture at Central University of Kashmir here.
“But it is a different thing that Nehru was more responsible for partition of the India than Jinnah. It is established by history. Even (L K) Advani says so, Jaswant Singh says so,” Baig said.
L K Advani and Jaswant Singh have been senior leaders of BJP, who are now perceived to be sidelined by the current leadership of party led by Narendra Modi.
Partition of India and creation of Pakistan is squarely blamed by historians of India on Ali Mohammad Jinnah and Muslim League. Jinnah is known as the father of Pakistan.
Baig, know an avid reader of history and law, delivered a lecture today to students and faculty of Central University of Kashmir during a seminar on “The Preamble of the Constitution”.
He explained to the audience whether the socialism, secularism and democracy truly flourished in India and whether the Constitution is being practiced by politicians and people in its letter and spirit.
The event was organised by the Department of Law, Central University of Kashmir (CUK), to celebrate the Constitution Day, in commemoration of the 125th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna, Dr. B R Ambedkar.
Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir, noted lawyer and legal luminary, Zaffar Ahmad Shah, Head Department of Law, Dr. Sheikh Showkat Hussain, Registrar, Prof. Muhammad Afzal Zargar, Controller of Examinations, Dr. Nazir Ahmad Gilkar, Deans of various Schools, Heads and Coordinators of different department, faculty members and students were also present on the occasion.
