National Girl Child Day celebrated at SIE Kashmir

Srinagar, Jan 24 (KNS): SIE Kashmir on Thursday organised a thought provoking programme. The day is celebrated every year in India to promote awareness about the rights of the girl. The theme of 2019 for this day is "empowering girls for a brighter tomorrow".
The event was graced by Joint Director trainings, Mehboob Hussain.
In his address the principal SIE expressed his concern over the high mortality rate of girl child, whether it is female infanticide, dowery deaths and late marriages.
Speaking on the occassion, Mehboob Hussain congratulated the daughter of one of the faculty members of SIE who secure first position in the recently held Board exams and set an example for her fellow students to rise and free themselves from the shackels and bondage of so called patriarcal society.
Following the cue, the research officers of SIE namely Dr Rabia Naseem Mughal, Peer Bashir Ahmed, Ghulam Muhammad and Javed Kirmani discussed threadbare the importance of this day.
They threw light on the pivotal role that a women plays to make this world a better place to live in.
The program concluded with the vote of thanks presented by the senior research officer Peer Bashir and program coordinator Mir Shabeer with a key note message "there is no tool for development, more effective than the empowerment of women." (KNS)
