NIA Anti-Terror conference reiterates PM Modi’s zero tolerance policy

New Delhi, Dec 28 (KNS): The 5th Anti-Terror Conference of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) concluded on Sunday, reaffirming Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s firm directive of zero tolerance towards terrorists.

The two-day event, inaugurated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, focused on strengthening India’s anti-terror architecture and enhancing coordination between central and state agencies.

Addressing the conference, Shah directed states to expeditiously implement a uniform Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) structure to boost counter-terror capabilities. He emphasized that robust, standardized, and consistent operational capacity across the country is essential for effective intelligence use and coordinated counter-actions.

The Home Minister lauded the operational and investigative success of central and state agencies in tackling the recent Pahalgam and Delhi Red Fort terror incidents.

Referring to the Pahalgam attack, he highlighted that the terrorists involved were neutralized through Operation Mahadev, while their broader network was dismantled via Operation Sindoor. He described these actions as a decisive response by the Government of India, security forces, and the people of India against terror masterminds based abroad.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Shah underscored the need for agencies to adapt to evolving technology and the changing terror landscape, pointing to challenges such as cyber threats, hybrid warfare, and multi-layered intelligence gathering. He urged regular training for security and police personnel and stressed strengthening investigation and prosecution mechanisms.

Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan hailed the institutionalisation of the conference as a tool to reinforce India’s zero tolerance stance against all forms of terrorism, including cross-border, narco, and cyber-enabled threats. He also noted the importance of tracking radicalisation, recruitment, and exploitation of vulnerable youths.

Track 2 of the conference discussed digital device data, big data analytics, and unmasking digital anonymity. Other sessions focused on preemptive disruption of terror modules, lessons from different theatres such as LWE and North East, counter-financing of terrorism, maritime security, and evolving counter-terror jurisprudence.

The event was attended by over 150 delegates, including heads of State Police, CPOs, CAPFs, and Union Ministers Nityanand Rai and Bandi Sanjay Kumar.(KNS)
