Srinagar, 29 Aug (KNS) : The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference General Secretary and MLA Khanyar Haji Ali Mohammad Sagar Saturday said that attempts to weaken the National Conference have never succeeded because of the deep trust and emotional bond the party shares with the people.
In a statement issued from party headquarters Nawa-e-Subha, Sagar said the National Conference is not merely a political party but a movement born out of the struggles and sacrifices of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Those who have tried to weaken the National Conference have failed time and again. By the grace of Almighty Allah and with the support of our people, every such conspiracy has been defeated,” he said.
He said the party’s history is closely intertwined with the political awakening and democratic struggle of Jammu and Kashmir. “The National Conference has always stood with the people, raised their voice and made sacrifices for their rights. That bond cannot be broken by propaganda or conspiracies,” Sagar said.
Sagar maintained that the party’s strength comes from its people and its commitment to its principles. He said the National Conference has never treated power as an end in itself, but as an opportunity to serve the people.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
“The National Conference is a movement, an ideology and a sentiment. It lives in the hearts of the people,” he said.
Referring to Articles 370 and 35A, Sagar reiterated that their restoration remains an important priority for the party. He said the National Conference would continue its democratic and constitutional struggle for the restoration of the political and constitutional rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
He also urged the Central Government to respect the aspirations of the people and restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir at the earliest.
“An elected government must have the powers and resources necessary to serve its people effectively. Democracy cannot function meaningfully when an elected government is denied the requisite space to govern,” he said.
Sagar said the National Conference would continue to work for the empowerment of the people and remain committed to protecting their democratic, political and constitutional rights.
Meanwhile, several public delegations from different areas met Sagar and apprised him of issues concerning their respective areas. He took up the matters with the concerned authorities and directed prompt action for their redressal.(KNS)
