Dr. Farooq Abdullah leads tributes; Party leadership urges workers to follow Dar’s legacy of humility, service & sacrifice
Srinagar, July 08: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference today held a one-day party convention at Townhall Kulgam to commemorate the 19th martyrdom anniversary of veteran leader and former MLA Shaheed Ghulam Nabi Dar.
The convention was presided over by JKNC President Dr. Farooq Abdullah and organised by the party’s State Spokesperson and In-Charge Kulgam Constituency, Imran Nabi Dar.
The event witnessed a strong show of unity and reverence with the presence of senior party leaders including Cabinet Minister Sakina Itoo, Advisor to HCM Nasir Aslam Wani, Provincial President Adv. Showkat Ahmad Mir, Hon'ble MLAs Abdul Majeed Bhat Larmi, Showkat Hussain Ganaie, Peerzada Faroz, Provincial Secretary Syed Tauqeer, District President Safdar Khan, Women's Wing District President Sakina Ji, YNC South Zone President Feroz Wani along with office bearers of the Youth National Conference (YNC), Women’s Wing, and the parent body.
Earlier in the day, party functionaries gathered at the gravesite of the late leader to offer floral tributes and Fatiha, remembering his selfless contribution to the region’s political and social fabric.
Paying glowing tributes to Shaheed Ghulam Nabi Dar, Dr. Farooq Abdullah said, “Ghulam Nabi Dar was more than a politician; he was a sincere soldier of the party and a tireless advocate of the downtrodden. His life was a reflection of humility, service, and dedication to the people. Echoing the sentiments, Advisor to HCM and senior leader Nasir Aslam Wani said, “Shaheed Ghulam Nabi Dar exemplified the values that the National Conference stands for. His unshakeable resolve and grassroots connection made him a beloved figure. I call upon our party cadres to carry forward his mission and be the voice of the people, especially as we gear up for the upcoming ULB and Panchayat elections.”
Cabinet Minister Sakina Itoo while paying tributes to the late leader said, "On this day I remember late Dar sb with reverence who was a committed party man and was always at the forefront to alleviate problems of people. His commitment to help those in need will always be remembered. I pay glowing tributes to him on this day. May Almighty elevate his stations in jannat."
Other speakers including Adv. Showkat Mir, Imran Nabi Dar, Abdul Majeed Bhat Larmi, Peerzada Faroz also remembered the late leader’s role in strengthening the party at the grassroots and advocated for unity, discipline, and proactive engagement with the people.
The convention concluded with a collective resolve to uphold Shaheed Ghulam Nabi Dar’s legacy and strengthen the party's connection with the masses, ahead of the crucial local body elections.(KNS)
