NC Shook our Trust by Backtracking on Rajya Sabha Promise: J&K Congress Chief Karra

Srinagar, Oct 14 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Congress chief Tariq Hamid Karra on Tuesday has said that by back tracking on the promise of a safe seat for Rajya Sabha Omar Abdullah-led National Conference (NC) has shaken our trust and its alliance partner is seemingly moving away from the INDIA block by not adhering to the coalition mantra.

Congress Source said that the NC’s latest stance has created doubts about its sincerity towards the INDIA alliance, and suggested that the party is moving away from the coalition spirit.

According to Congress sources, the NC had initially assured the party that one of the Rajya Sabha seats from Jammu and Kashmir would be allocated to Congress as part of the INDIA bloc’s understanding.

Over the past few weeks, multiple meetings were held between leaders of both parties to formalize the arrangement. Congress reportedly insisted that its nominee should be given a safe slot, with support from NC to ensure an uncontested victory.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

However, when the time came to finalize the seat, the NC refused to commit, arguing that it would field its own candidate and that Congress could contest separately if it wished. This sudden change in stand has angered Congress leaders, who see it as a breach of the coalition’s basic principles.

Talking to KNS, Karra said that by back tracking on the promise of a safe seat for Rajya Sabha Omar Abdullah-led National Conference (NC) has shaken our trust and its alliance partner is seemingly moving away from the INDIA block by not adhering to the coalition mantra.

He said the coalition works only when partners stand by their word and respect mutual commitments, especially when the understanding was reached in the presence of senior leadership.(KNS)
