Demands impartial probe in MGNREGA scam

Srinagar, Feb 28 (KNS): National Conference (NC) senior leader and MLC Qaiser Jamsheed Lone visited several bereaved families at Batpora, Gonipora, Jugtiyal and other areas of Hyhama and expressed sympathy with the bereaved families of Habibullah Qureshi, an Army personnel and Habibullah Khan, a renowned businessman.
According to the statement issued to KNS, the MLC also met with several delegations in these areas following which he complained about the ‘hooliganism, nepotism and fraudulent approach’ of the workers of the ruling party.
Lone alleged that the workers of the ruling regime are withdrawing bills on different titles, and schemes of the same work after changing the shape or measurement of a particular work.
The MLC also took a strong note of the problems being faced by the general public and castigated the Government for its utter failure despite grabbing crores of rupees from state exchequer in the name of developmental works.
Lone appealed for impartial probe in MGNREGA scam in the entire Lolab Constituency. “High level probe in MGNREGA scam is the demands of general public,” he said.
“Gram Sabha meetings have become a cruel joke, nobody is paying heed to the recommendations thereof,” he said, adding that PMAY enlistment has become an easy tool of the ruling party to exploit the poor people while as the deserving people are ignored by the government functionaries.
He said that electricity and water supply has become a distant dream for the people in the area, despite paying huge amount as monthly bills against these basic amenities. (KNS)
