Srinagar, Nov 21 (KNS): A wonderful political combination for formation of new government comprising National Conference, Peoples Democratic Party and Congress obviously looking beyond imagination to people has started propping up in Jammu and Kashmir with NC provincial president Nasir Aslam Wani making a point “if SP of Akhilesh and BSP of Mayawati can come together why can’t PDP and NC join hands in Jammu and Kashmir” and State Congress president making a point that “a secular front is emerging on the trend set at a national level by the increasing tendency of a joint fight against the communal forces.”
In the Wednesday morning, news portals and national news channels in Delhi started splashing reports about the formation of a workable combination comprising NC, PDP and Congress for formation of a non-BJP government in Jammu and Kashmir and in the afternoon senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad presently leader of the opposition in Rajya Sabah was the first confirm that a proposal for an alliance between the three parties NC, PDP and Congress is being discussed informally and soon after Azad dropped hints about the proposal alliance the senior PDP leader and former Finance Minster, Syed Muhammad Altaf Bukhari told reporters in Srinagar that “a progress on the talks among the three parties NC, Congress and PDP is visible on the ground and the proposed alliance suits the political situation and fight for protection special status including Article 370 and Article 35-A.”
“Article 370 and 35-A are the main issues and the motive of the emerging secular alliance is to safeguard them,” he said, adding that “talks between the three parties are in the advanced stage and every step is being taken to counter the moves of defection initiated by BJP for taking reins of power of State. You will hear a good news by Thursday morning.”
Earlier in the day, senior Congress leader and former chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said, “We three parties NC, Congress and PDP thought why not to unite and form the government together. Talks are in progress but it is only a suggestion till now as we have not reached the stage of forming a government yet.”
Virtually endorsing Ghulam Nabi Azad, the state Congress president Ghulam Ahmad Mir told Kashmir News Service (KNS) “parleys are going on but can’t say anything about the outcome of the talks with authority. Governor has declared that he won’t dissolve the assembly and instead keep the assembly in suspended animation just to keep gates open for horse-trading. We thought to come together to stop the horse-trading and the disaster brought by BJP during last four years in Jammu and Kashmir and rest of the country. A consciousness is emerging between NC, Congress and PDP for formation of a secular alliance. Let you track down the developments and see how things move.”
Lending credence to the reports of a secular alliance between NC, PDP and Congress, the NC provincial president Nasir Aslam Wani told KNS “if Akhilesh Yadav of Samajwadi Party and Mayawati of BSP can come together against communal forces in Uttar Pradesh why can’t PDP and NC come together in Jammu and Kashmir to stop the rise of communal forces in the State. Who says Jammu will be discriminated if NC, PDP and Congress come together. All the three parties have representation from Jammu and Ladakh. National Conference is represented in the Jammu mainland and PDP is represented in border pockets of Jammu division. Similarly, Congress has representation from almost a dozen constituencies of Jammu region.” (KNS)
