Sumbal Bandipora, Sept 9 (KNS): Advocate Mushtaq Ahmad Hurrah was on Wednesday elected president of the Bar Association Sumbal after defeating his rival in a closely contested election, officials said.
Hurrah secured 10 votes to win the presidential post, while Advocate Sheikh Ajaz was elected vice-president with 14 votes.
Advocate Ghulam Mohi Ud Din Parray and Advocate Tasleema Jan were elected general secretary and treasurer, respectively, unopposed.

Polling, counting and declaration of results were completed in a fair and orderly manner, according to the official notification.
The newly elected executive body assumed charge with immediate effect.
Members of the legal fraternity congratulated the new office-bearers and expressed hope that the new leadership would work for the welfare of advocates while upholding the dignity and professional standards of the Bar.(KNS)
