Srinagar, June 25(KNS): In a move to ensure security for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, Jammu and Kashmir Police, along with other security forces, have put in place multi-layered and comprehensive arrangements, IGP Kashmir VK Birdi said on Wednesday.
"All the security arrangements have been divided into zones and sectors," Birdi told reporters in Anantnag, South Kashmir. "Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) drills are being carried out across the valley."
He said the drills are being conducted at camps, along road routes, and in interior areas to prepare all units for any contingency.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel"The objective is to make sure all security forces know their specific responsibilities," he added. "This helps in maintaining readiness and coordination in case of any emergency during the pilgrimage."
Responding to a question about the role of local residents, Birdi said the success of the yatra depends significantly on their cooperation. "These yatras are successful with the help and support of the local residents," he said.
"Locals have shown enthusiasm and are actively helping pilgrims by providing services and support."(KNS).
