Mirwaiz greets on Milad, voices concern for Kashmiri prisoners

Srinagar, Sep 6(KNS): Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Umar Farooq on Saturday extended greetings to the Muslim community on the occasion of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi ?, urging people to follow the Prophet’s ? message of compassion, justice, and service to humanity.

In a post on X, the Mirwaiz said, “On the blessed occasion of Milad-un-Nabi ?, I extend heartfelt greetings to the Muslim Ummah. Let us strive to live by the Prophet’s ? teachings of compassion, justice and service to humanity.”

Alongside his greetings, the Mirwaiz expressed serious concern over the condition of Kashmiri political prisoners. He referred to reports of Er Rashid narrowly escaping an attack inside Tihar Jail and alleged that HIV-positive prisoners were being deliberately lodged with Kashmiri detainees to provoke and humiliate them.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

He also pointed to the denial of interim bail to veteran leader Shabir Ahmad Shah despite his ill health, calling it “very concerning.”

“These incidents again highlight the dangerous conditions Kashmiri political prisoners face in jails and the denial of justice to them. As our constant appeals for their release go unheard, at least the safety and dignity of prisoners, which is the responsibility of authorities, should be ensured,” the Mirwaiz stated.(KNS).
