Srinagar, July 21 (KNS) : Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir, Dr. Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq, laid the foundation stone for the reconstruction of Masjid Bilal in Chanpora Srinagar. On the occasion, he highlighted the central role of mosques in uniting Muslims, spreading Islamic values, and serving as vibrant centres for spiritual and social development.

He said the mosque is the centre of Islamic unity, where the call to prayer gathers all believers regardless of background or school of thought. “Masjids should not be divided along sectarian lines. They belong to Allah and must remain open to all,” he stated.

Mirwaiz urged people to follow their own maslak with sincerity, but without criticizing others. “We must not allow those who wish to sow sectarian discord to destroy our unity. The strength of the Ummah lies in its togetherness,” he said.

He stressed that disrespect of the Sahaba (??? ???? ????) can never be accepted, and that love for both the Sahaba and the Ahl al-Bayt is a fundamental part of Islamic belief that binds the community together.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Calling on mosque committees to actively involve youth, Mirwaiz said mosques should be places that guide young people spiritually and engage them in community service and moral development. He welcomed the inclusion of a dedicated women’s section in the new mosque structure, calling it a positive step towards greater inclusion.

He further added that mosques must address social challenges like drug abuse, disunity, and moral decline. “Committees can support both spiritual and physical well-being through sports, awareness, and community-building activities,” he said.

He also emphasized that mosque committees can play a pivotal role in promoting simple and dignified Nikah and marriages within their communities, helping reduce unnecessary expenses and social pressure while upholding Islamic values.

Praying for the swift completion of the project, Mirwaiz expressed hope that Masjid Bilal will serve as a beacon of unity, learning, and reform for the area.(KNS)
