Mirwaiz again barred from offering Friday prayer: Anjuman Auqaf

Anjuman to organise training for Hajj pilgrims on May 30

Srinagar, May 26 (KNS): Anjuman Auqaf Jama Masjid Srinagar expressed resentment against the continuous detention of its head Mirwaiz Dr Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq for the last 4 years.

In a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), the Auqaf said that today is the 196th consecutive Friday when he was neither allowed to perform the important duty of Friday prayer nor carry out his religious duties.

“Due to his continued detention, the centuries-old pulpit of Jama Masjid continues to be silent which otherwise used to reverberate,” reads the statement.

Meanwhile, the Anjuman said that it will organise a Hajj training programme in the auditorium of the Islamia School Rajouri Kadal on Tuesday at 11:00 am for the pilgrims of Kashmir.

It said valley’s renowned religious scholar Mufti Nazir Ahmad Al-Qasimi will provide practical guidance to the pilgrims regarding Hajj.

“Apart from this, the details of Hajj rituals in audio and video form will also be presented to the pilgrims through a projector.”

The Anjuman has requested the pilgrims especially from Srinagar to benefit from this Hajj training programme. (KNS)
