Srinagar, Nov 25 (KNS): A Seerat conference was organised by the Awami Action Committee (AAC) was held today at Mirwaiz Manzil Rajouri Kadal, Srinagar where in Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman and AAC patron Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and various Ulema and religious scholars played glorious tributes to Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and urged people of Kashmir to follow the footsteps of the beloved Prophet (SAW) for achieving the success here and the in the hereafter.
The conference was presided over by the AAC patron Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who in his presidential address stated that Muslim Ummah was facing tremendous hardships and sectarian rifts were growing with each passing day and the main reason for that is that Muslims have deviated from the basic teachings of Prophet (SAW) and the holy Quran. He said despite the fact there are 60 Muslim nations across the globe yet Muslims are disunited infighting and suffering at the hands of various forces when they could have been a strong block who could have played a great role in shaping global politics and ethics.
He said we should realise that of success of Muslims lies in understanding and following the teachings of the great Prophet (SAW) and the Quran.
Commenting on the prevailing grim situation, Mirwaiz said the killing of our young boys in forces operations is extremely sad and painful. APHC chairman said that severe repression, impunity from any accountability of the forces and choking of all democratic rights including the right to peaceful expression of dissent and sense of injustice drives the young boys to take up arms. He said many among them are those who are either persecuted and haunted by police and forces or their family members killed and harassed and they feel left with no choice but to avenge the injustices by taking up arms. He said no room is provided to the young in colleges and universities or elsewhere which are forums across the globe for youth to express and assert their views especially in a conflict zone like ours and those that try to do so are harassed and forced into silence by the authorities.
Mirwaiz said that even when youth come to resistance leadership to express their views or extend their support for peaceful pursuance of the people’s movement, agencies immediately scare and intimidate them. Mirwaiz said a deliberate stifling atmosphere is being created to push the youth to a path of violence and then they are martyred. Mirwaiz said in the last three days alone more than 18 armed youth and civilians have been killed and tens of scores of civilians grievously injured with bullets pellets tear gas shells. He said military repression is no solution to Kashmir dispute nor will it be able to undo the reality of the dispute. Mirwaiz said whether GOI likes it or not they have no choice other than to address it sooner or later.
Mirwaiz also strongly criticized the authorities move to declare Kashmiris major financial institution the JK bank as a PSU in order to completely control it. He said all attempts are being made to weaken the State’s financial institutions while as our basic human political and religious rights are already under great assault.
Many religious scholars also spoke on the occasion that included general secretary of Jamaat-e-islami Faheem Ramzan, Moulvi Bashir Ahmed Irfani from the Hurriyat Conference (G), Imam of Jamia Masjid Srinagar Moulana Ahmed Syed Naqshbandi, research scholar of Kashmir University Muhmmad Nayeem Bhat while as Naat was recited by Mir Shabir Ahmed.
