Srinagar July 12 (KNS): Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir, Dr Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq, who continues to be under arbitrary house detention for the second day , paid glowing tributes to the first martyrs of Kashmir of July 13, 1931, on their 94th martyrdom anniversary.

He said that these martyrs laid down their precious lives in the noble cause and pursuit of the realisation of the basic rights of the people of Kashmir under autocratic and discriminatory rule . Their sacrifices are unforgettable and will always be remembered.

In a statement issued to KNS, Mirwaiz said that since the time of Shaheed-e-Millat Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Farooq, it had been the tradition to honour these martyrs by taking out a peaceful procession to the Martyrs’ Graveyard under his leadership, where people would pay homage to them and renew their commitment to carry forward the ideals for which they laid down their lives . However, in recent years, due to the restrictions imposed by the ruling authorities,such commemorative gatherings have not been possible, which is ver sad and extremely regrettable .Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

He said that the pulpit and mihrab of Jama Masjid Srinagar bear witness to the fact that when the funeral prayer of the martyrs was offered in its courtyard under the leadership of Muhajir-e-Millat Mirwaiz Moulana Muhammad Yusuf Shah, lakhs of people participated collectively and bid them a heroes adieu

Mirwaiz reiterated that on this day, the people of Kashmir once again remember the sacrifices of these martyrs and reaffirm their resolve that these sacrifices will never be forgotten, and their mission will continue to be nurtured and upheld till its final achievement.

The statement further added that if the authorities lift restrictions on Mirwaiz tomorrow, July 13, congregational Zuhr prayers will be held at Jama Masjid Srinagar, after which a visit will be made to the Martyrs’ Graveyard at Naqshband Sahib to pay tributes and offer prayers for the departed souls.(KNS)
