Srinagar: Jan 1 (KNS): Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr. Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq and Anjuman Nusrat-ul-Islam today paid rich tributes to the eminent Islamic scholar, reformer and pioneer of modern education in Kashmir, Allama Rasool Shah Sahib (RA), on his 117th death anniversary.
In a post on X, the Mirwaiz said:
“On the 117th death anniversary of Allama Rasool Shah (RA), I pay glorious tribute to this great scholar, reformer and pioneer of modern education in the Valley, founder of Anjuman Nusrat-ul-Islam (1899) — the ‘Sir Syed of Kashmir’. This institution played a pivotal role in rescuing Kashmiri society from ignorance and subjugation through the transformative power of education. The Mirwaiz said that Allama Rasool Shah’s visionary mission laid the foundations of a powerful educational and social reform movement in Kashmir, whose impact continues to shape generations.
On the occasion, a Duaiya Majlis (prayer meeting) was held at the head office of Anjuman Nusrat-ul-Islam, where special prayers were offered for the maghfirah and eternal peace of Allama Rasool Shah (RA) and for all those who contributed to strengthening the Anjuman and its noble mission.
The Anjuman reiterated its resolve to continue expanding educational opportunities for the underprivileged in keeping with the ideals and vision of its revered founder.(KNS)
