Mir Qayoom demands road macadamisation, widening of roads in Pulwama

Srinagar, Jun 17 (KNS): People’s Democratic Front General Secretary and senior political leader from Pulwama Mir Abdul Qayoom has demanded macadamisation and widening of main and links roads in Pulwama district.

In a statement to KNS, Mir Qayoom said that the road from Galendar to Pulwama town was widened a decade ago, but the authorities left it halfway without completing the project or macadamising its complete width.

Censuring the respective governments and former legislators from Pulwama, Qayoom said that due to inefficiency and lackadaisical approach of the elected representatives the Galendar-Pulwama road was not completed.

He said that Galendar-Pulwama is the main linking road of the district to the rest of the state, but the former governments and legislators failed to understand it and ensure its proper widening and complete macadamisation.

He appealed the governor administration to intervene into the issue and direct the concerned authorities to complete the project.

Qayoom also demanded that the roads take up for widening and construction in Pulwama assembly segment under different projects and schemes should be completed swiftly to ensure hassle free travel of people.

He asked the district administration in Pulwama to macadamise road from Ratnipora to Laura which was recently widened under PMGSY scheme.

He said that the Executive Engineer of PWD are Estates Officers of Roads and in Pulwama assembly segment these estate officers have failed to remove encroachments of the roads which hampers public movement.

He appealed the governor administration to intervene so that all link and main roads in Pulwama are macadamised and widened for smooth movement of people and traffic. (KNS)
