Mera Resham Mera Abhiman” Campaign Empowers Over 120 Farmers in Rajouri

Rajouri, August 10 (KNS) : As part of the nationwide sericulture awareness and technology transfer initiative — “Mera Resham Mera Abhiman” — a series of farmer training programmes were successfully conducted across District Rajouri from August 5 to 7, 2025.

The programmes were organised by the Central Sericulture Research and Training Institute (CSR&TI), Pampore, Central Silk Board, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, and its regional unit, the Regional Sericultural Research Station (RSRS), Miransahib, in collaboration with the Department of Sericulture, Rajouri.

The campaign commenced on August 5 in Rajouri town, where 35 farmers received training on silkworm rearing techniques. The session was delivered in the local language to ensure clarity and to encourage adoption of improved practices.

On August 6, the training moved to Bareri village in Nowshera, where over 45 farmers, including a large number of women, were trained in host plant cultivation and management, a critical component of the sericulture cycle.

The third session, held on August 7 in Soulki village, Kalakote, focused on disinfection and hygiene in silkworm rearing houses.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelMore than 40 farmers participated in this session, learning best practices to prevent diseases and ensure healthy crop outcomes.

In total, the three-day programme benefitted over 120 farmers from various remote, hilly, and border regions of Rajouri district, aiming to enhance their skills and promote sustainable sericulture practices.

Upcoming Events in Rajouri:

To further support local sericulture development, two technology demonstration programmes will be held on August 11 and 12, 2025, at Chattiar and Kangri regions, respectively. These demonstrations will focus on showcasing practical applications of modern tools and techniques in sericulture.

Additionally, three more farmer programmes under the “Mera Resham Mera Abhiman” campaign are scheduled for August 18, 19, and 20 at Sunderbani, Bamla, and Lamberi, respectively.

The ongoing campaign by the Central Silk Board, Ministry of Textiles, continues to play a vital role in transforming the sericulture landscape by bringing expert knowledge directly to farming communities, empowering them with tools for better productivity and livelihood enhancement.(KNS)
