Mehbooba Mufti Sold Kashmir for Power, Now Justifies Betrayal: AIP

Srinagar, Jan 8 (KNS) : AIP Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi launched a scathing attack on Mehbooba Mufti and the PDP, saying it is shameful that she continues to justify the historic blunders committed by her father late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed instead of showing the moral courage to apologise to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

In a statement issued ,Inam Un Nabi said Mehbooba Mufti has been repeating the same justifications for the last seven years, even as Kashmiris face unprecedented suppression. “Rather than apologising for her alliance with the BJP, she continues to defend it. This alliance was not a mistake; it was a conscious betrayal. PDP must issue an unconditional apology for its unholy partnership with the BJP that shattered Kashmir’s political foundation,” he said.

Inam said Mehbooba Mufti lacks the courage to face the people honestly and instead tries to rewrite history. “It was PDP that gave the BJP its first launchpad in Kashmir. That single act paved the way for the abrogation of Article 370 and the downgrading of statehood. Mehbooba Mufti is directly responsible for these catastrophes,” he asserted.

Inam Un Nabi said her politics has always been driven by lust for power, not by concern for Kashmiris. “To remain in power, she arrested Kashmiri leadership, silenced dissent and did everything possible to please the BJP. She brushed Kashmiris to dust just to keep her chair and even to elevate her own brother to the Cabinet,” he said.

Inam said Mehbooba Mufti has no moral authority to represent Kashmiris, calling her actions a betrayal of both Kashmiris and Muslims.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“She has consistently worked against the interests of her own people, deceiving them with false narratives while serving her personal ambition. She is not their voice; she is their misrepresentation,” he said.

Inam Un Nabi also recalled that it was during Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s tenure in 2002 that policies like the inter-district reservation framework were pushed, the damaging consequences of which people continue to suffer today. “These were not minor administrative decisions; they were long-term injuries inflicted on Kashmir,” he said.

Questioning the credibility of the Gupkar Alliance, he said it collapsed because Mehbooba Mufti abandoned collective commitments the moment power slipped away. “For power, she was ready to sacrifice alliances, principles, and people alike,” he said.

While maintaining respect for the departed, Inam Un Nabi said death does not erase political accountability. “We do not wish to disrespect a man who is no longer alive, but leadership mistakes of such magnitude cannot be pardoned or whitewashed. Before calling Mufti Mohammad Sayeed a statesman, Mehbooba Mufti must have the courage to admit his errors and seek forgiveness on his behalf,” he said.

Inam concluded by saying that history will record Mehbooba Mufti and PDP as collaborators in Kashmir’s political downfall, adding that repeated lies and justifications will not absolve them. “The people of Kashmir deserve truth, accountability and repentance, not recycled excuses from those who sold their trust for power,” Inam Un Nabi said.(KNS)
