KARNAH, Sept 6 (KNS): A mega medical camp was held today at Teetwal, near the Line of Control, where around 500 patients from surrounding border villages received free medical examinations and medicines. The camp also provided disability certificates to specially-abled persons locally, eliminating the need for travel to distant hospitals.

Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kupwara, Dr. Masarat Aslam, inaugurated the camp and emphasized that providing quality healthcare to the residents of border areas remains the Health Department’s top priority. He informed that earlier, patients had to travel to Kupwara to obtain disability certificates, but in the last month, two medical board camps have been organized in Karnah itself, enhancing local accessibility of these important services.

Dr. Aslam further warned that doctors posted in Karnah must regularly attend their duties or face strict disciplinary action.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

The event was also attended by Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Karnah, Zaffar Ahmad Lone, and Block Medical Officer (BMO) Tangdar, Dr. Khwaja Arif. Dr. Arif highlighted that a wide range of medicines was made available at the camp, reinforcing the department’s commitment to delivering healthcare services directly to the doorsteps of residents in this remote border region.

In a related development, a dialysis machine was officially inaugurated late in the evening at the Sub-District Hospital, Karnah. This new facility will prevent patients from having to travel to Srinagar or other valley hospitals for dialysis, saving them considerable time and expense. Previously, patients had to bear heavy costs and endure long journeys for such treatment, but now this critical service is available locally.(KNS)
