Srinagar, Nov 4 (KNS): The Meteorological Department on Tuesday said that a feeble western disturbance is approaching Jammu and Kashmir, likely bringing light snowfall in higher reaches and rain in some plains.

Talking to KNS ,Director MeT, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, said that cloud cover would increase by afternoon, followed by light snowfall in the mountainous areas and light rain in parts of the plains, including the Jammu region. “In higher reaches like Doodhpathri, there is a possibility of light snowfall,” he said.

According to Dr. Mukhtar, the weather activity is expected to continue till late night or early morning in some districts, after which conditions will improve. “Weather is expected to remain dry from tomorrow till around November 16 or 17,” he said.

He added that there could be a slight dip in daytime temperatures between November 5 and 10, along with a decrease in minimum temperatures.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“Shallow to moderate fog is likely in the coming days, which may subside later as temperature improves,” he said.

The MeT office said there is no major weather activity expected across Jammu and Kashmir till November 17.

Dr. Mukhtar advised commuters to remain cautious while traveling through higher mountain passes, including Zojila, Mughal Road, Sadhna Pass, and Sinthan Top, as light precipitation may cause temporary disruptions.

He said farmers in hilly areas may experience minor impacts from the light rain, but regular activities can resume from tomorrow. “Morning and evening fog or mist may increase gradually in the coming days,” he added.(KNS).
