Srinagar, Nov 30 (KNS): Four militants including a commander of LeT were killed in an encounter with police and security forces in Futlipora area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district and Bomie area of Sopore.
A police spokesman siad in a statement that acting on a specific information, Budgam police along with 10 Gadwal and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation (CASO) in Fotlipora area of Police Post Pakherpora, Char-i-Sharief Budgam. During the search operation, militants hiding in the area fired upon the joint search party. The fire was retaliated, ensuing an encounter.
“Three militants were killed in the encounter. One of the killed militant was identified as Shabir Ahmad resident of Thokerpora, Pulwama. The identity of other two foreign militants is being ascertained,” the spokesman said.
He said three AK rifles, three AK magazines, 111 AK rounds and other ammunition were recovered from the encounter site.
Meanwhile, Sopore police along with 22 RR and 179, 92 and 177 Bn CRPF acted upon a specific information regarding the presence of terrorists in Kumar Mohalla Sagipora in the jurisdiction of Police Station Bomie, Sopore, a cordon and search operation was launched. During searches, militant hiding in a Nallah near water point of Kumar Mohalla Sagipora fired upon the joint search party.
“The fire was retaliated in which the said terrorist was gunned down. The militant was later identified as Muzamil from Pakistan affiliated with LeT outfit, Commander of North Kashmir,” the spokesman said.
“One AK rifle, five AK magazines, 124 AK rounds, one UBGL, five UBGL rounds and other ammunition was recovered from the encounter site,” he said. (KNS)
