Langate villages san basic facilities, locals suffer

Langate, Jul 31 (KNS): The claims of successive regimes to provide basic facilities to the people here are proving hoax on the ground as several areas in Langate Assembly segment lack basic facilities, thus leaving the villagers to lurch at large.

According to Kashmir News Service (KNS) Correspondent, the villagers of Check Sarmarg, Lachampora of Langate Assembly segment of Sub District Handwara are facing hardships in absence of basic facilities.

Around 70 families with a population of 500 people are residing in these villages, situated around 22 and 30 km’s from sub district Handwara. The villages, which comes under Sarmarg Gram Panchayat and Lachampora Panchayat lacks health care facilities, road and potable water.

Several Central Government projects like Ujjwala Yojana, house under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and Deen Dayal Yojana, have failed to make any impact in these villages while as the residents said that “Back to village programme” also failed to make any difference in their lives.

In the absence of safe drinking facility, the villagers are being compelled to use pits for meeting their domestic requirements, locals said, adding that due to lack of road, patients and school going children are facing immense hardships.

The residents alleged that elected representatives and officials don’t visit the village to assuage their woes.

A local resident said the “back to village programme” was a ray of hope for them but it their sufferings didn’t end, thus leaving the local populace here to lurch at large. (KNS)
