Jammu, Jan 7: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday virtually flagged off a 53-member youth contingent from the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir for New Delhi to take part in the 29th National Youth Festival – Viksit Bharat Young Leaders’ Dialogue 2026.
The national event will be held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, from January 10 to 12, 2026. The contingent will represent Jammu and Kashmir in the Viksit Bharat Challenge Track and the Cultural and Innovation Track.
The National Youth Festival is organised every year to mark the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda on January 12. In 2025, the festival was restructured as Viksit Bharat Young Leaders’ Dialogue in line with the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.
Interacting with the youth through virtual mode, the Lieutenant Governor congratulated the participants for reaching the national level after clearing local competitions. He said their selection reflects the capability and commitment of the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.

Referring to Swami Vivekananda’s message, the Lieutenant Governor urged the youth to stay focused on their goals and treat challenges as lessons in discipline and patience. He said leadership is not limited to personal success but lies in creating opportunities for others.
He further said the responsibility of youth is towards society and the nation. He advised them to build character, develop skills, and continue learning throughout life. He added that courage, discipline, clarity, and determination will guide them in the journey towards Viksit Bharat.
Commissioner Secretary Youth Services and Sports Yasha Mudgal, Director General Youth Services and Sports Anuradha Gupta, senior officials, participating youth, and officials accompanying the contingent were present on the occasion.(KNS)
