LEAD and J&K State Sports Council Sign MoU to Drive Sports-Led Development in the Region

Jammu, May 31, (KNS): In a landmark step towards promoting regional growth and youth empowerment, Jammu & Kashmir State Sports Council (JKSCC) and LEAD (Ladakh Jammu & Kashmir Economic Growth and Development Dialogue) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at LEAD Office, Jammu, marking the beginning of a strategic partnership to promote sports as a catalyst for sustainable development across Jammu and Kashmir.

The MoU was signed by Nuzhat Gul, Secretary of the J&K State Sports Council, and Rajesh Gupta, Board Member of LEAD, in the presence of LEAD State Convenor Harinder Gupta. In his address Harinder Gupta said, sports have emerged as a powerful engine of community development, employment generation, economic growth, and national pride. Globally, the sports economy contributes significantly to GDP through diverse streams such as infrastructure development, event tourism, merchandising, equipment manufacturing, wellness services, and media etc.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Speaking at the event, Nuzhat Gull emphasized the Council’s commitment to building an integrated sports ecosystem that goes beyond infrastructure to touch lives at every level. Rajesh Gupta highlighted the role of public-civic collaboration in creating lasting impact and inclusive growth in the Union Territories. This partnership reflects a shared vision to harness the power of sports for building a resilient, empowered, and future-ready Jammu-Kashmir.

RK Chibber (Coordinator-Cooperative Sector) concluded the event with his closing remarks. Notable dignitaries included Sanjeev Sharma (Board Member), Shivang Satya Gupta (Coordinator-Tourism Sector), Suneel Mahajan (Coordinator-Handloom & Handicraft Sector), Vishal Abrol (Coordinator-Real Estate & Housing Sector) and other members of LEAD.(KNS)
