Kulgam, Sep 6 (KNS): The authorities at District Hospital Kulgam have banned the entry of medical representatives (MRs) into all patient-care areas, including OPDs, wards and casualty, during official duty hours with immediate effect.
According to an order issued by the Medical Superintendent accessed news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS), the restrictions will remain in force daily between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm. The decision was taken after it came to the notice of the hospital administration that MRs were frequently visiting clinical areas during working hours and, in some instances, were found interacting with patients and examining prescriptions.
The Medical Superintendent has directed that no MR shall approach doctors or patients in OPDs, wards, casualty or other patient-care zones for promotional or professional purposes during the restricted hours, the order stated.
However, it allowed MRs to meet concerned doctors after duty hours, provided such interactions do not disrupt patient-care services or hospital functioning, officials said.
All consultants, medical officers, nursing staff, heads of sections and security personnel have been directed to ensure strict compliance with the directives, they added.
Any violation, the order warned, will be viewed seriously and may invite disciplinary action under relevant rules. (KNS)
