Veeri says '3 accused arrested in Haryana, Kashmiri student arrested in Bhopal released'

Jammu, Feb 03 (KNS): Opposition National Conference and Congress legislators on Saturday sought explanations from the government on Friday's attacks on Kashmiri students in Haryana and demanded intervention of both the central and Haryana governments over the issue.
According to the KNS correspondent, as soon as the proceedings of the house started entire opposition members stood up from their seats, protested against the attacks on Kashmiri students in Haryana and demanded immediate action against those responsible for the attacks.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the reply of the minister, the opposition members walked out of the house in protest towards the end when the question hour was in progress.
MLA Khanyar Ali Mohammad Sagar said that Kashmiri students are again and again attacked in educational institutions outside the state. He said the government has failed to protect the students of Kashmir who study outside the state.
“We are saddened to see our students going through mental stress due to continuing attacks of goons in educational institutions in other states of the country. Such heinous criminality will only create a wedge and further alienate the youth of Kashmir from the rest of country,” said Sagar.
MLA Pahalgam Altaf Ahmad Wani raised the issue of arrest of SKUAST student in Bhopal and urged the state government to take up the matter with concerned authorities of other states to ensure the safety of the Kashmiri students.
He displayed an SMS message from his mobile sent to him by the students who were attacked in a college in Haryana and sought the intervention of the speaker over the issue.
Sharing the concerns of the opposition members Minister for parliamentary affairs Abdul Rehman Veeri said that two students from Jammu and Kashmir were thrashed allegedly by nearly 15 people Friday evening in Haryana’s Mahendragarh. The police have arrested three of them and identified three more persons.
He also said that government has taken the issue strictly the Haryana government and strict action will be taken against miscreants.
He told the agitating opposition members that the student of SKUAST who was arrested in Bhopal has been released.
Expressing their dissatisfaction over the reply of the minister, the opposition members staged a walkout in the end. (KNS)
